The Drum Tower (Gu Lou)
It was built in the 18th year of the Yongle reign in Ming dynasty (1420), and it was built on the tall and big City platform of brick. About 33 meters high, it has cylindrical tiles, and the tower of the green eave lies in the mountaintop. All of it is brick stone structure, exquisite and firm, and every side has doors of an arch.
The clock and the drum floor lie in the North of the central axis of Beijing. They and Mountain Jing(Jingshan)stand far apart facing each other, set off each other, and it’s very beautiful.
